Yeah,so the news media won’t report “happy” and “good” news 24/7. Wake up, you naive, ignorant people! Our job is to provide the news, and alert the world of all that is wrong with it. We’re not going to spend our precious money reporting success stories all the time.
If 4 weeks go by without a death in Iraq, yeah we’ll run one or two articles, and maybe an editorial….but No! we won’t cover the lack of casualties for all four weeks. We’ve got an entire world waiting to be covered as it is. Especially you bloody Republicans, whining and cursing the “liberal media” for all the problems that Bush and the conservative media have created.

Well, our antidote has been to start our own website hoping to make a living, but also showing our idiot
boss what we were trying to do for them online for free
since we did it on our own time and refused to allow it to be added to our job description. We were canned.

“I’m angry because as knowledgeable as I am about these things, all I do is write about them (and not enough) I am not acting. I feel helpless to find the boundary of activism against a government of which I am not a constituent, versus being an observer/chronicler.

If there are any “Bob Woodwards” out there who can encourage me to do more by sharing their own experiences, please let ‘er ripp in this forum.”

Does your paper have a lawyer on retainer? Call him. Have him write up a letter explaining some of the laws and the consequences if the government doesn’t respond. If they blow him off, threaten to sue the bastards. The paper has every right to those records and it is the government that is breaking the law. Besides it will give you something else to write about.
